Since women make up roughly half of a nation’s population, depriving them of access to formal education isn't good for socio-economic development. For a country to grow and prosper, all its resources must be fully utilized.
Not a huge issue in the U.S., but there are other places in the world where women are deprived of an education, either due to religious beliefs or cultural beliefs.
